Wakefield

Wakefield is a scenic town 10 miles North of Boston. Originally settled in 1639, its name was changed from South Reading until 1868 when the name was changed to Wakefield in honor of one of its leading citizens, Cyrus Wakefield, who built the first rattan factory in the world. Today, Wakefield is a desirable suburban residential community known for its strong community involvement, quality school system, thriving businesses, and most notably for scenic Lake Quannapowitt. Lake Quannapowitt is at the center of countless outdoor festivals and benefits each year and walkers and joggers can be seen circling the Lake all year.
